How is the 700 club a Non-Profit????

Seriously, I love Pat Robertson. He makes stereotyping the Christian Right as a bunch of crazies so much easier. When folks like Billy Graham talk about morality, you know, I listen, because even when I don’t agree with him I respect his views. He is just a man who loves God and hates no one (his son is a coat of a different color of course).

But Pat Robertson… no. Not even in the slightest. He's out for blood again. Surely, you've read about it.

"If he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war... and I don't think any oil shipments will stop."
-- On Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, August 2005

Interesting. I thought we didn't fight wars over oil.

And just to remind you of some of his other *christian* teachings.

"If they look over the course of 100 years, I think the gradual erosion of the consensus that's held our country together is probably more serious than a few bearded terrorists who fly into buildings."
-- On whether "activist judges" are more of a threat than terrorists, May 2005

"Maybe we need a very small nuke thrown off on Foggy Bottom to shake things up."
-- Referring to the State Department's location while criticizing the agency, October 2003

sadly, old Pat is growing more and more senile, and yet still gets media attention. it's very frustrating that many folks view him as a representative of Christian beliefs.

Saw it on CNN an hour ago "Pastor wants President of Venezeula killed". Nice guy this pastor. A few months back, Robertson stated liberals were more dangerous to our country than a "few bearded guys" flying planes into our buildings. Oh God, rapture for Robertson NOW Please!!!

i'll concur with bob. I met him about 15 yrs ago - a bit fringe then, but no where near the loony nature as of late. His statements actually don't surprise me, as he's been progressively getting a bit more radical with his statements, what is surprising is that his organization would keep him on the air after he's very obviously started to "loose touch."

It's different when it's your grandpa or uncle talking nonsense in the garage or around the kitchen table - their foolish talk isn't being broadcast to millions around the globe. Unfortunately (and a very frightening thought), naive folk may not see that he's "lost it" and take him at his word.

Unfortunately, the "Christians" we have been electing lately are becoming more and more Robertson-like, so it's getting awfully hard to find decent Christians in the media. Of course, the ones on TV have always been the big-haired, diamond-ring-wearing, pancaked kooks that make it hard to take Christianity seriously, but now that our leaders are kotowing to to religious right-wingers like Pat and the Bob Jones crowd, this is maybe becoming the face of Christian America...

Here's another one that's supposedly from Pat: "It's clear from the teachings of the Bible and also from the history of Christianity that it's anything but peaceful. Of course there are peace-loving Christians. But at the same time, at the core of this religion ... is evangelism, and it is to subject the unbelievers either to forced conversion or death. That's what it teaches." Whew! Somebody stop him before he speaks again!!!
